You never know where you might end up (like the top of a waterfall)!

Now that I am overseas I have learned a great deal about being on my own and how important it is to step outside of your comfort zone and reach out to others. Building friendships with other people is such a big part of making your study abroad experience what it should be! I think people often tend to forget that almost everyone is in the same situation you are, so don't be afraid to reach out and talk to people. If you're shy, that moment of fear will disappear within seconds, if you're outgoing, keep finding those who may not be. You're a stranger in a different country and a stranger to those you are surrounded with so to me it is completely fascinating to find out more about other people and where they come from. From the standpoint of academics, this being a summer course compresses a lot into such a short time, which can be difficult. Just budgeting my time so far has been beneficial so I don't get too overwhelmed or have to miss any fun excursions to go on. It was a bit of a culture shock for me not having to run around from place to place always working on something for school or work back at home. My goals for the remainder of this program is to explore other towns in Scotland that are around me, I want to continue to do something spontaneous each week..no planning just doing. You never know where you might end up (like the top of a waterfall)!
