If you could travel to any place in any period in history, where would you go?

I would want to see Jesus face to face after he arose from the dead to thank him for paying the price for my sins.

Costa Rica Adventures

I am studying abroad in Costa Rica doing an Intensive Spanish Language Program and living with a host family. This journal serves to keep others informed about my experience as well as to remain a record of my adventure for future reference or reflection.

Before I go there is much to prepare...not only my baggage, but also my mind and my heart.

Now that I’m done working as an RA at camp and am back home working part-time at a nearby restaurant, my focus has shifted quite a bit. The knowledge that I leave for Costa Rica in a little over 5 weeks has brought upon many mixed feelings. I am excited for the unexpected adventures that undoubtedly lie ahead, but all the unknown also causes some fear to rise within me. I know I will miss all of my friends and family, but at the same time this will most likely be the experience of a lifetime that I do not want to miss out on.  I believe the memories I make and lessons I learn in Costa Rica will impact my life forevermore.    Before I go there is much to prepare…not only my baggage, but also my mind and my heart. I am thankful that I have an extra month of summer and do not depart until the end of September, for I am totally unprepared at the moment. I have been dreadfully busy and unable to think much about my upcoming journey until now. I don’t even have luggage yet, but I am excited to start planning and preparing more. There is so much going through my mind right now of things I need to be sure I do before I go and things I need to do in order to have a safe and enjoyable trip. The longest I’ve ever been out of the country is 2 weeks, and I have never flown by myself before. I do not know what to do yet regarding money or credit cards. I continually wonder what my host family and peers will be like.  I know that my Spanish language skills are not something to be proud of. But despite all my worries and concerns, I am thrilled that my dream of studying abroad and learning the Spanish language is finally going to become a reality. I am trusting and praying that the Lord will guide me each and every step of the way.
