  • June Entry

Travel Journal from United States Massachusetts, United States | Tue Jun 08, 2010

I know this is something that everyone says after studying abroad, but studying in Perugia was one of the best things I've ever done. I've improved on my language skills enough to communicate effectively in Italian (which has been one of my goals my entire life), made friends from all over the world, and had so much fun. I cannot say enough for this experience - if you're considering studying …

  • Grazie Mille Perugia

Travel Journal from United States New Jersey, United States | Tue May 25, 2010

I had been planning on going abroad for years. When I was searching for colleges, a well developed study abroad department was high on my list of requirements. Now that I have gone and come home, it’s a hard reality. It also didn’t help that I had the best experience of my life in Perugia. I was so excited to go abroad and as it got closer, my excitement only intensified. …

  • A Pilgrimage

Travel Journal from Italy Florence, Italy | Sat Mar 20, 2010

A trip to Florence is and always will be a sacred one for me.  As an Italian major, a considerable chunk of the content that I have studied took place in Florence.  After all, it is known as the birthplace of the Renaissance, and is where the legend himself, father of the Italian language Dante Alighieri, spent most of his life while composing masterpieces including the Divine Comedy (a piece …

  • One month finished!

Travel Journal from Italy Perugia, Italy | Thu Feb 11, 2010

I can't believe a month has already passed here. I know everyone says this, but it really has FLOWN. I'm already a quarter done and I feel like I haven't been here at all! Perugia is probably the best place I've ever been on earth. It's kind of the Italian equivalent of a college town - with the Umbra Institute full of Americans, the Universita` per Stranieri, where I study, and …

  • Pre-Departure Thoughts

Travel Journal from United States Massachusetts, United States | Tue Jan 05, 2010

In about 18 hours, I'll be on my way to Perugia, Italy! I'm in a really mixed state of mind right now. On the one hand, I can't wait to experience Italian culture: food, music, people, everything. I can't wait to meet new people and just have an all-around great experience for the semester. Friends and family who have traveled to Italy have nothing but positive things to say, so I'm …

I agree, going as a group would be more fun. I talked to my cousin who went last year, and he said the way to go was to camp at the camp grounds, I'm looking into it. As for dates, any of them work really, so the last weekend in September sounds good.
