  • I'm going to RUSSIA!

  • La Mercè

Alright everyone..time for another update. So much has happened in such a short amount of time..I’m going to try and make this as short and sweet as I can because I’m flying to PARIS in 6 hours :DD I have SO much to do for Paris alone...and a ton of other things as well..

Let's start with La Mercè’s a HUGE festival, actually the biggest festival here and it was September 21st-24th. Concerts, fireworks, dancing, light shows, human towers, block parties- everywhere. Does that not sound amazing? The best night of La Mercè for me was the night of the Correfoc, fireworks on the beach, and a light show on La Sagrada Familia. I’ll attach videos for you guys to see :) the videos are long, but if you skip to the middle you'll get the idea. The Correfoc was probably my favorite part of La Mercè because I got to run through the streets with people dressed up like devils that carried sticks with fireworks attached to them. This was SO exhilarating, and I got burned twice, but it was totally worth it. And of course I wore proper clothing, but since I was taking pictures, I wasn't wearing gloves or anything.

To view all of the videos I talked about, click the videos tab on the top of this page.

Next, Zaragoza..We went to Zaragoza which is about 3 hours away from Barcelona. We visited the Basilica del Pilar and it was absolutely gorgeous..I don't have any pictures because it was raining pretty much the whole time while we were there :( We also went to the roman ruins including a roman theatre. Needless to say, it was amazing.

Hmm, what other interesting things.....

Well! This is VERY exciting for you all know, I’m here for the year. I’ve decided to apply for an internship for this summer!!! I’m in the process of getting all the information and getting things straightened out with my school, but things are looking good. Which means..I can stay here for 12 more weeks!!! :D

Three days ago, I was in Plaza Catalunya sitting near the fountains by myself and out of nowhere this boy from Belgium comes up to me, gets down on one knee, and starts singing "Call Me Maybe" to me and then proceeds to strike up a conversation. It was very very sweet, but at the same time, I was pretty embarrassed. I really didn't know what to do except laugh it off and talk to the boy..

Two days ago, I had the opportunity to try out a salsa class with the study abroad program. IT WAS AMAZING. I was literally dripping sweat when it was over, but it was just so much fun. I’m going to take more classes starting next week, and I get a discount which is nice :) I was invited to a salsa bar by my friends from Venezuela, so these classes will prepare me :))

Alright, ONE last thing.....this is the most exiting thing for me right now..Last night I booked my flight to RUSSIA!!! I’m so ecstatic, I don't even know what to do. I'm like a little kid at Christmas. I’m going to Moscow with another student from my Spanish class, and we are going for a few days. Little did I know, you need a separate visa to get into Russia in any case, so I’m going to start the process when I get back from Paris..luckily I have PLENTY of time but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Alright you guys, well I have to get going but I love and miss you all very much and will post pictures soon of what I talked about in this entry PLUS pictures from PARIS :D
